Exchange 2007 SP2 has just been released

Hi,

Microsoft just released Exchange 2007 SP2 for download...

Keep in mind you must prepare Active Directory and each domain before you perform the first installation of Exchange 2007 SP2 in an organization. As you may recall Exchange 2007 SP2 includes the necessarry schema extensions for Exchange 2010.

In additions here are some other remarks to be aware of:

  • The order of SP2 deployment is as follows: CAS --> UM --> HUB --> EDGE --> MBX
  • You need to have Windows Installer 4.5 in order to install Exchange 2007 SP2
  • You cannot uninstall SP2
  • You still cannot upgrade an Exchange 2007 server from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008. You'll need to install a fresh copy of Windows 2008 and then deploy Exchange 2007 on top of it.
  • Uninstall all Interim Updates prior to installing Exchange 2007 SP2
  • Make sure to verify if your third-party applications are supported with SP2
  • Make sure to stop the SC Operations Manager Health Service on the Exchange Server before installing SP2.
  • Once SP2 is installed you'll need to use the SP2 setup to add and remove roles from your Exchange server
  • Forefront Security for Exchange RTM is not compatible with SP2, first remove it
  • For Clustered Mailbox Servers follow this procedure --> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb676559.aspx
