You have to option to get your personal unlimited test license for a Kemp virtual load balancer for test and lab environments only. We limited this offering to Belgium only, if someone outside of Belgium wants to take advantage of this offering it is best to contact Kemp directly.

4. Power it up to retrieve the required access code by logging into the administration web interface.

(or the dhcp address it acquired during boot up)

7. Login with default User=“bal”, default pass=“1fourall”

8. Get the Access Code from the web interface

9. Go to this URL to Request your permanent license

10. Ensure that you enter the following information in order to get the personal license for testing and lab environments only!

1. “Belgian Email Address” must end in *.be

2. “Belgium” as the Country

3. “Other” in “Your Qualification”

4. “Johan Delimon” in the other text box

11. Fill in all other fields as required and click “Submit”

12. Kemp will approve your License request

If you’re looking for something that fills the gap left by the (now pensionable) Microsoft Identity Integration Feature Pack, then this may well be it. I’ve spent the last day looking at the product’s capabilities for running Exchange 2010 Global Address List synchronisation and I have to say I’ve very impressed. Aside from the price tag ($0.00 suits the pocket of most), the best thing about QQCE is that it’s really easy to set up and configure. "

Update Rollup 1 for Exchange Server 2010 SP1 has been released

This thursday, the Exchange CXP team released Update Rollup 1 for Exchange Server 2010 SP1 to the Download Center. The release of the rollup via Microsoft Update will happen on October 12th.

This update includes new fixes for the following server roles:

Client Access
Mailbox
Edge Server
Hub Transport

In particular the Exchange CXP team like to call out the following fixes which have been included in this release:

2028967 Event ID 3022 is logged and you still cannot replicate a public folder from one Exchange Server 2010 server to another
2251610 The email address of a user is updated unexpectedly after you run the Update-Recipient cmdlet on an Exchange Server 2010 server
978292 An IMAP4 client cannot send an email message that has a large attachment in a mixed Exchange Server 2010 and Exchange Server 2003 environment

Rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1 is currently scheduled to release in early December.

Note for Forefront users

For those of you running Forefront, be sure you perform these important steps from the command line in the Forefront directory before and after this rollup's installation process. Without these steps, Exchange services for Information Store and Transport will not start back up. You will need to disable ForeFront via fscutility /disable before installing the patch and then re-enable after the patch by running fscutility /enable to start it up again post installation.

Mcafee Users: be careful with DAT version 5958

To all Mcafee customers: be careful with DAT version 5958. Several reports on the internet indicate that it may try to remove/clean svchost.exe due to false positive, and make your system unusable.

Edit: Mcafee issued Knowledge Base Article on Mcafee Website, workaround available with extra.dat update

Not really UC related, but might influence your UC install or clients if it is protected by McAfee.

SC Data Protection Manager 2010 is Released to Manufacturing

System Center Data Protection (DPM) 2010 delivers unified data protection for Windows servers such as SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint, Virtualization and file servers -- as well as Windows desktops and laptops. Microsoft has re-engineered DPM 2010 to be more scalable so that both midsize and enterprise-class organizations can take advantage of it.

Feature Summary

Protection for Windows clients, while they are online or offline, with easy-to-use wizards for establishing protection, retention and alert schedules. A single DPM server can protect over 1,000 Windows clients, while end users are able to restore their own data using Windows Explorer or Microsoft Office.
Protection of Microsoft Virtualization platforms, including Hyper-V R2 Live Migration / Cluster Shared Volume (CSV) configurations. DPM can also restore single-file items from host-based VM backups.
Enhanced Protection for SQL Server, scaling to over 2,000 databases per DPM server, and offering auto-protection of new databases per SQL instance. DBA’s can now restore their own databases, through a self-service restore utility for SQL Server.

DPM 2010 must be installed on a Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit computer that is located in an Active Directory domain that is running in 2003-mode or better.
DPM 2010 can protect machines running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows Server 2003, 2003 R2, 2008 or 2008 R2, as well Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7.
If you are protecting data over a wide area network (WAN), there is a minimum network bandwidth requirement of 512 kilobits per second (Kbps).
